Skilled WNC farmers and artisans will present demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and Q&A sessions on a variety of topics and skill sets relevant to self-reliance, homesteading, and farming. The fair will open at 10AM. Enjoy fresh coffee and hot cider with some baked goods while you wander the farm and talk to the 30+ exhibitors and vendors. At noon we will switch to an afternoon menu devised by Chef Matt. Demos and workshops will begin at noon and continue until 5PM in various venues around the farm.
Workshop and demo topics will include
Preserving and Canning Vegetables and Fruits, Fermenting, Beekeeping, Mushroom Propagation, Spinning, Hemp and CBD Explained, Raising Fiber Animals (Alpaca lovers alert!), Aromatherapy, Soapmaking, Homestead Knot Tying, Botany for Farmers, Vermiculture, Transitioning from Traditional Farming to a Sustainable Future, Making the Most of Your CSA Share, Building a Functional Waterwheel, Cooking with Fire (with Chef Matt Kuver), Small Scale Livestock Farming, Propagating Herbs, and more. Workshops and activities for kids include a farm/nature-oriented scavenger hunt, making seed balls for guerilla gardening, constructing moss terrariums, helping to create the mural on our food truck, and other crafty projects with take-homes for the kids.
Juried artists and craftspeople will join an array of farmers market vendors, selling everything from local honey to foraged mushrooms to goat’s milk soap.
Admission is free, but some workshops will charge a nominal fee for materials. Fees and the full schedule will be available by 10/6. Please contact us with questions at 828-235-9667 or email email@example.com.
Located just 30 minutes west of Asheville in Canton, North Carolina, we have been farming the land using organic and environmentally friendly methods for the past 60 years, selling our specialty produce to local restaurants and at the Historic Haywood Farmer's Market. We take pride in offering fresh, organically grown produce and cut flowers, CSA's, U-Pick fruit and vegetables, and the grand experience of farm dinners instead of dining in some stuffy restaurant. Bring the whole family - we have a unique experience to offer to any age! Saturday afternoons we fire up the wood burning pizza oven to thank our customers for their support.
Last season we decided to design and grow our first sunflower maze. It came out a-mazing, of course. Kids and adults both enjoyed the experience. In fact, the Haywood County Tourism Board uses our maze as the cover of their official Guidebook.
This season we will have two sunflower attractions...the first a Sunflower Stroll, and the second a brand new Sunflower Maze! Look for the Stroll in early July and the Maze in mid October.
Classic Smoky Mountain views in every direction. Enjoy picking berries of all kinds, sunflowers, zinnias...Farm2Feast Sunday dinners, wood-fired pizza on Saturdays...pumpkin picking...chicken watching...
